Born January 4, 1986

Currently lives and works in East Gosford, NSW.

Krystle Ragen was born in Sydney, Australia in 1986. Ragen works predominantly in the medium of painting on canvas, but includes redesigned recycled household materials in her collection. Ragen completed a Bachelor of Teaching / Bachelor of Arts degree specialising in Primary Teaching, and Visual Art with distinction at the University of Newcastle in 2010. She has recently had a group exhibition at Umina Public, Umina Beach NSW.

If these paintings have a mission, it is this: capture people and environments and present them in an obscure but familiar way that will complement and enhance the interior of their home. Up close, each painting is a jumble of shapes that have no connection or relationship. Standing back, shadows and colour begin to turn the image into a 3D but unrealistic version of its self.

It may be the conflicting colours of traditional fruit, as we know it or the expression of a tired artist. Whatever the locale, on the best of days, these paintings will stir up unexpected feelings and thoughts in the viewer.
